Useful Tablet Apps
Do you want to use that iPad for something more than just playing Angry Birds or Temple Run? Here are some suggestions (free and paid) for turning your iPad into something more helpful for your education:
Evernote - Take and organize notes and be able to access them on your iPad, smartphone, and computer. Organize them into different folders, import photos into your notes - it will help you keep track of important information for school and life (also consider getting Penultimate and Skitch by the same developers if you like what Evernote provides for you)
Virtual Cell - Learn about a variety of cell processes, including cellular respiration, mitosis, photosynthesis, and meiosis.
Nova Elements - A great exploration of the Periodic Table
3D Cell Stain - A three-dimensional look at the organelles of a cell
Powers of Minus Ten: Bone - A close-up look at the inner workings of a human bone
Algebra Touch - An interesting way to break down and solve equations with touches and swipes
Khan Academy - A repository of instructional videos on a variety of topics
Sakura Quick Math - A good way to review arithmetic facts
functns - an app for practicing and learning multiplication tables. Linear progressions of the Times Table provide pattern recognition while a Random, or Shuffled Table progression develops memory retention.
Desmos - an excellent graphing calculator app; you can also use it on line if you would prefer to save memory space on your tablet
